The event UFC 221: Romero vs. Rockhold is getting underway from Perth, Australia, early on Sunday morning. After a near-fiasco on Saturday when main event participant Yoel Romero missed weight by over two pounds, the show will go on as scheduled with his opponent, Luke Rockhold, taking a portion of his pay check.
Once the two stepped off the scale, things appeared to escalate even more with Rockhold prodding Romero for missing weight, something Rockhold says is typical of the Cuban.
All of this after losing its scheduled main event when it was discovered that current middleweight champion Robert Whittaker was battling a staph infection in his stomach, forcing him out of action near his home country of New Zealand.
But as it stands, we will still get to see two fighters that have been near the top of the division for a few years now and were almost destined to fight eventually.
